Baggy, Bold, & Boxy - Menswear F/W 2011

Looks like the Fall 2011 collections from most designers are stretching the limits of proportions. Using yards more fabric than the days of skinny jeans and short-crop jackets, designers like John Varvatos, Kris Van Assche, and Neil Barrett are all getting in on the act.

Here are some highlights and faves from the past few weeks and a look at what seems to be a new silhouette for the upcoming season:

L'ECLAIREUR; New Sevigne Boutique

Celebrating 30 years of avant-garde fashions and designer brands, owners Martine and Armand Hadida are pleased to present their latest multibrand boutique in the Marais in Paris. This high-concept location was designed by Belgian artist Arne Quinze and features 147 video screens as well as an organic, twisted-wood sculpture. Meant to be a true "experience", the store combines reality with illusion and creates a distinctive moment for each visitor.

Much like the boutiques, the L'ELAIREUR website is also an interactive experience that combines cutting edge design with true artistic sensibility and presentation.

Merci; A Parisian Retail Benchmark

More than just fashion and interior decor, Merci is rooted in philanthropic ideals. With a carefully crafted selection of fashion and interiors, this benchmark in retail shopping also includes a florist and library/cafe and has set up a foundation to donate profits to help children in the poorest countries throughout the world.

The "used-book cafe" features second hand books that can be purchased for 5 Euros and feature a rubber stamp that indicates the book-donors name.

Paris Street Art - Montmartre

Known as the last remaining village in Paris and seated high above the city, the charming area of Montmartre is home to many painters and artists. A one-time home of the greats like Picasso, Renoir, and Monet, the city continues to be home to many charming streets peppered with various forms of gorilla artwork. My travels recently took me to the beautiful city of Paris. As some of you may know, a trip to this great city wouldn't be complete without a Sunday afternoon at the flea market. With merchandising that would rival major boutiques, Le Puces is full of great people & great finds.
